About
Richard was joint founder and CEO of Dial a Phone 1995, one of the first online retailers of mobile phones. Operating in both the UK and later in France, Dial a Phone disrupted electronics retailing selling direct to consumers using direct response marketing and was one of the first online retailers of mobile phones. Under different brands Dial a Phone operated white label services for many of the UK networks and competitors, before being purchased by Phones 4u. After the sale of Dial a phone in 2008, Richard focused on his property interests, growing his portfolio, at the same time serving as a trustee of an international relief charity.
Richard is an active early-stage investor & was one of the first seed investors in Chip, where he is Chairman and a Director, launched in early 2017. Chip has more than 500,000 users with Assets under Administration over £5bn. The company continues to grow at speed.
In March 2020, Richard joined fellow general partners Gary Sacks and Daniel Harris and managing partner Josh Drukarz in the successful spin-out of Scalar North Capital into a standalone investment vehicle / family office.
